Hi!,

What's included?

Is food (lunch) included in the registration fee? When does the early bird period end? Is breakfast included in the dorm ($10/night) price? What kinds of beds are available in the dorms? Should guests bring their own towels? Sheets? --LA2 23:29, 4 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

All I can see from this page is that there's no air conditioning. No info other than that it appears. 69.143.226.129 01:33, 5 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Side note I noticed you're taking the bus from Cairo to Alexandria, I suggest you take the train! It's much faster and more comfortable. Depending on the bus you're taking, cost shouldn't be too much more. 69.143.226.129 22:18, 5 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Few questions about costs

Hello,

Who exactly is a Wikimedia contributor? The 1 and 2 day registration prices, are those the early bird prices? Is registration ongoing through the conference? For example, say on the 18th I wanted to register for both the 18th and 19th, would I pay the two day rate listed, or would I have to register for each day separately, paying $30 per day? Thanks, I'll also be interested in seeing what early bird refers to. 69.143.226.129 01:25, 5 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

I apologize, just 1 more question, what page contains an itinerary of what workshops etc, are being given on each day? I understand specific times and locations probably aren't worked out, but it'd be helpful as far as choosing which days to arrange lodging for. Thanks, 69.143.226.129 01:28, 5 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Well about the food, check http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimania_2008/Bids/Alexandria#Dorms . It says there that it includes at least continental breakfast. About lunch, I read somewhere that there would be small lunch included, but I cannot find any info about it. About the dorms, they look as they are rooms with single beds, not bunk beds as far as I can tell. About the train proposal from the IP, as far as I can infer from the article, a local sponsor will be offering shuttles from Cairo to Alejandria at no expense from July 25 to July 21. As I'm not an organizer I cannot confirm the info I have provided, nor I can provide any further. I kindly ask the organizers if they could confirm or deny what I have said, and to give a full reply to all the questions, as they are of general interest. Thanks --Legion fi 06:32, 7 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Yes, having an organizer swing by to the registration page would be most helpful! Anyone want to post to wikimania-l? Jussen 14:04, 8 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Interesting that no other language appears to be asking these questions?? Jussen 14:08, 8 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hotel roommates

Are we going to be double booked in the hotel rooms with someone else from the conference, or does $30/$60 get us our own room? If we are double booked, can we have the option to specify a roommate? I'm coming with someone and we'd like to have our own room. Staeiou 04:15, 5 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

The cost shown in the page is per person in a double room with 2 people in there. so the room costs $60/$120 when we pay to the hotel. You can specify roommate if you wish, please email wikimania-registration AT wikimedia.org for that after your registration is confirmed. --mido 10:55, 9 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Is it possible to book a single room? /Ainali 15:31, 10 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

I don't understand

what is the meaning of that : early bird(full)or 1 day or 2day what is that means? Beedox

Me also for early bird (full), I see there are some questions above. Could an official give the exact meaning.
Since the conference hold out 3 days, 1 ou 2 days is a partial registration I guess.

Me three! I'm very concerned that we haven't heard anything. Jussen 04:57, 8 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Early bird (Full) means that you will attend the three days of the conference with this fee, and that you're paying less than registration fee which will start on the first of July, 1 day or 2 days is partial registration and there is no early bird price (discount if you may say) for it. I hope this clarifies the issue :) --mido 10:51, 9 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Ok, thank you mido! ~ Seb35 [^_^] 22:17, 9 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Privacy concerns

Why does Wikimania need to know my nationality, passport number and date of birth? This wasn't needed for WM 2007 and I don't see why you would need it now.

Also, please don't assume that nationalities correspond to addresses (my "city" is not in the same country as my passport), or that people have only one native language. Jpatokal 12:54, 6 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Timezone in Egypt

Since 2008-04-25 Egypt is observing Daylight Savings, hence it is +03:00 GMT.

True. It should be UTC+3, however, for the relevant dates, it is still the same time as the Helsinki-Athens time zone (EEST). Drork 11:11, 15 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Broken forms

The online reservation form is completely broken. When I use the browser's back button from the verification page, I get a blank form. The only thing I can do is submit or reset. When I submit, and realize I should have printed the verification page, go back, then try to go forward again, I get an error message "Someone has registered with the same name and the identification / passport number. It's possible you have submitted twice or you have refreshed the registration page." Yes, duh, that's possible. But now I can't proceed to payment. --user:LA2 19:28, 29 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

On-site registration

the Schedule page says that "Registration is possible on July 16th (17:00-19:00), July 17th (08:00-09:00) and July 19th (08:30-09:30)", does this mean there will be no on-site registration on July 18th ? if so, why ? --41.196.122.154 22:05, 17 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
